Followed and a process is formalized with the following phases: public information, call in the BOE, presentation and selection of candidates and designation by the Spanish government. Waste stabilization and solidification: an appreciable solution It is a process based on the addition of additives to reduce the dangerous nature of a waste, its level of toxicity and the speed of environmental migration of a contaminant.
The fixation to an additive, which acts as a support medium, implies the confinement of the polluting agent. With the aggregation of these reagents, the physical characteristics of the waste and its handling improve, the area of contaminating moible number data influence is reduced and its solubility is decreased. Among the processes included in this waste treatment, solidification stands out, which increases the resistance of the waste and reduces its permeability and contaminating risk.

It is also necessary to mention the processes of adsorption and precipitation. In fact, stabilization involves mechanisms such as microencapsulation and adsorption. Finally, among the materials that are used and have been studied as stabilizing reagents, it is worth highlighting cement, pozzolanic materials and lime. In short, a field in which it is still possible to innovate and which provides security to waste treatment processes.
